Home Province:  Kampong Cham

Date Entered Heritage House:  Sept. 06, 2003

Siblings Living in Heritage House:  Veassna, Tirot

Child’s History:

We learned about Tola from a Baptist Church in Kampong Cham Province.  Tola had been attending the Church and had given his heart to Jesus.  His father had died of AIDS and his mother was dying of the disease.  He lived in a small thatch house with his mother, his aunt (also dying of AIDS), his grandmother, two very young cousins (both who had AIDS as well) and his two younger brothers.

Tola was eager to move into Heritage House along with his two brothers.  As the older brother, he felt like it was his responsibility to care for the younger boys and to make sure they had a chance at a better life.  We were able to buy a month’s worth of food for Tola and asked him to stay and help his mother until she passed away.  Only two weeks later, Tola’s mother died.

Tola has been a real leader at Heritage House.  He is a worship leader who truly enjoys leading others into the presence of Jesus.  Recently, Tola got a job working for a prison ministry in Kampot.  He teaches computer classes to several prisoners four days a week along with leading a Bible study in the prison.  He has also been working and living at Elephant English School as a guard.

Prayer Requests:

For Tola to grow in the wisdom and revelation of Jesus daily
For Tola to be a witness in the prison to his students
For opportunities for his to share the gospel with others to open up for him

VEASSNA
Date of Birth: Mar. 15, 1995*

Home Province: Kampong Cham

Date Entered Heritage House: Sept. 06, 2003

Siblings Living in Heritage House: Tola, Tirot

Child’s History:

We learned about Veassna from a Baptist Church in Kampong Cham Province.  His father had died of AIDS and his mother was dying of the disease.  He lived in a small thatch house with his mother, his aunt (also dying of AIDS), his grandmother, two very young cousins (both who had AIDS as well) and his two brothers.

Due to his mother’s disease, Veassna had mostly raised himself.  He could come and go as he pleased and had little, if any, parental oversight.  It took him some time to get used to the routine and discipline of living in a house with rules.  He struggled in school for some time before settling down into the daily life.

In 2005 Veassna gave his heart to Jesus.  Since that time, we have witnessed tremendous growth in his life.  He is eager to serve and help with the chores around the house.  He helps the younger children whenever he can.  His grades have improved at school.  His life has been changed by Christ and he has a bight future.

Current Education: 2010-11 School Year – 7th Grade – Kampot Elementary School

Prayer Requests:

That Veassna would continue to grow in his relationship with Jesus
That he would find vision and purpose for his future

TIROT
Date of Birth: July 15, 1998*

Home Province: Kampong Cham

Date Entered Heritage House: Sept. 06, 2003

Siblings Living in Heritage House: Tola, Veassna

Child’s History:

We learned about Tirot from a Baptist Church in Kampong Cham Province.  His father had died of AIDS and his mother was dying of the disease.  He lived in a small thatch house with his mother, his aunt (also dying of AIDS), his grandmother, two very young cousins (both who had AIDS as well) and his two brothers.

Tirot is the youngest of the three boys and is well looked after by his older brothers.  As the youngest, he has a fun loving personality and likes to joke around.  He enjoys all sports and loves to play games.

Tirot does well in school whenever he is focused.  Like many children, he gets easily distracted.  He is really sharp and makes good grades every quarter.

Current Education: 2010-11 School Year – 6th Grade – Kampot Elementary School

Prayer Requests:

For him to be filled with vision and purpose for his life in the Kingdom of God
For the security that only God can give and for him to understand that even though he has been orphaned           on the earth at a young age, he still is loved by his Heavenly Father
