Upper 7 Village is located outside of Kampot City, Kampot Province, Cambodia. It sits on a hillside at the foot of Bokor Mountian. The people who live there are simple farmers. They make their living growing bananas, cutting and selling wood, and hunting in the forest. As far as we know, there has never been a group willing to make a long term investment in the village to see that the gospel of Jesus Christ gets established there. On May 31st, a cell group from Hosanna Church Cambodia made the initial step.
For weeks, the cell group had been praying for the people of Upper 7 Village. Their hearts pleading with God to reach their neighbors with the gospel. They had prepared the way into the village by asking permission to give out water filters to needy families. The village leaders granted permission to the Church to give out the water filters. That day, 23 families received water filters and many more heard about the life changing water that Jesus Christ can give.
When Vutha stood to share the gospel, he asked, "How many of you have heard of Jesus Christ?" To our suprise, nearly 75% of the people did not raise their hand. Vutha shared his testimony and about who Jesus is. We now have permission to start a weekly cell group in the village. Please pray for open hearts as Hosanna Church Cambodia invests in their neighbors lives.
